The Art of Pop Topping

F**k Tab Necklace by Spring Design & Art

The art of "pop topping" (using soda pop tops to create fashionable pieces) is nothing new. In 1975, Pop-Top Terp and Kenneth Patton wrote a book entitled "Pop Topping" which featured designs that, for their time, were truly innovative given their recycle/reuse sensibilities. Now designers like Ronaldo Fraga are reinvigorating the kitsch artform of "pop topping" with designs sophisticated enough to garner a second look. (I am personally holding out for the pop top bra and panty set, but I'm pretty sure it's a long way off.)

Very pretty but a little painful looking in some instances.

The last handbag is stunning! An novel eco approach to fashion. Better worn than tossed!

Kudos to the designers and to Ms. TDLC for sharing...

Great overview. I love seeing these promoted. I'm fascinated every time we get new pop-top designs on the site.

the escama stuff is great. I got a clutch (about 7'by3...?) as a grad. present few years ago, and cannot tell you how many compliments I get on it e/time I pull it out to pay/show ID. I extremely love it and the history and craft behind it (got to meet the woman that made it thru their site) fab!
