Fanning the Fashionable Flames

Much to my chagrin, I woke up this morning to the following USA Today headline: "News Roundup: Obama is back, so is fire in California." Now, I don't know about you, but that is the stupidest non sequitur I've read in a long time. But, irrelevance aside, it's true. The state of California is engulfed in flames. So to express my frustration, I have written a letter to the fire god(s) with whom I am deeply disappointed:

Dear Dios de Fuego,

It would appear that you have decided to lay the smack down on those of us living in California. What was heaven on earth only weeks ago is now hell on earth. Thousands of people have lost their homes, the Los Angeles Zoo has been evacuated, and more than 18,000 acres of Yosemite, arguably one of the nation's most amazing forests, have been charred (and the battle has only just begun.) So, thank you for finding it in your heart to set your sights on my beautiful home. Maybe tomorrow the entire state will be burned to the ground and you'll be forced to pick on Minnesota.
