In grade school, my family owned a bad ass little red dachshund named Gretchen. The boys down the street used to harass her daily, and she'd tear after them like a lion in heat, hell bent on nipping the first exposed ankle she could find. Her tough-as-nails attitude landed her with a little old lady from church who needed a fierce "no bullshit" companion. A sad day for me, a happy day for Little Old Miss Whatshername.

All these years later, my heart still melts when I catch sight of one of these "small on the outside, big on the inside" dogs. And, to add some sugar to my not-so-sweet memory, Fall 2008 is all about the dachshund. So, do yourself a favor and show the wiener some love!

Moira from Dog Art Today will love this post! My father had a mean dachshund named Frieda when he was young. She's still famous for her meanness 50 years later!
All these things are so cute . . . almost as cute as the real thing!

fuck, I'd be a mean savage bitch if I was called Frieda! I have a "small on the outside, big on the inside" and I love wiener (I know but I had to go there) so this is a win-win post for me!
want the wristlet, and I love that second photo!
Gretchen was a GREAT little gal who was rescued from the Animal Shelter. She was fiercely loyal to her new family and later, to Virginia who had lost her beloved Yorkie.
