Every Time a Kitten Dies, a Supermodel Gets Her Wings

When asked to conjure up images of human-sized wings, most of us default to the scantily clad, winged supermodels floating up and down the Victorias Secret catwalks. But, to the chagrin of most adult males [and some females] wings are much harder to come by than just looking good in a pair of silk knickers. (Although snagging David Beckham ranks up there with godliness and should merit a pair of wings. So, Mrs. Beckham, you're off the hook this time. Just remember, I'm watching you!)

In the bible, only two kinds of angels -- Cherubim and Seraphim -- are worthy of wings. In Greek mythology, Icarus and Nike are two of only a handful of deities worthy of flight. And for ancient Egyptians, it's Ma'at and Isis that take to the skies (although some argue that their wings are only for show, to which I say, 'Who cares?')

So it's no surprise that non-vestigial wings make their way onto the runways from time to time. And fall 2008 is no exception, with wings [whether obvious or implied] milking it for all it's worth. (And if you're not exactly sure how to accessorize, I suggest you check this out.)

I love those Rick Owens and Marni looks.

love the Takizawa sweater, but more literal wings would only bring more attention to my linebacker shoulders. But the shoes, i really want the blue Angelika heels!
