Ding Yong's Fashionable Metamorphosis

Before you ask, "Who killed Kenny?" allow me to offer up an alternative explanation for the Spring 2009 collection by Malaysian designer, Ding Yong: METAMORPHOSIS. The conspicuous and relatively abrupt changes in form, shape and color on Yong's runway were akin to that of a Hawk Moth, ungracefully transforming into a winged beauty before our eyes.

By viewing the pieces as "caterpillar-turned-pupa-turned-cocoon-turned-moth," they come across a little less sleeping-baggish, wouldn't you agree? (Although, given the baby doll head on a dress not pictured in this series, I imagine he was going for something relating to childbirth or evolution.)

If sleeping bags looked this 'glamour' I might consider heading bush!

Without the background information, I probably wouldn't know what to make of these looks, but I really like the idea behind them.
